Might not be related but Norton is notorious for conflicts with other applications when not properly uninstalled. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 running Windows XP with 2GB ram memory and 80GB hard disc and 40 percent free space. I already verified both my 256 chips are fine (Used in a seperate machine togeher and also individuaklly in the emachines box). I unchecked both of them and restarted the computer and after restarting, there is only one ctfmon item. attempting a reformat thinking the drive is fine, shows that it cannot be formatted due to an "Unknown" error.
